We are designing a dedicated space to support individuals in emotionally resetting after the loss of a loved one. This space can help people embrace sorrow while also inspiring an appreciation for life through immersion in a peaceful, relaxing, and inspiring natural environment.

The death of loved ones often revolve around fear and avoidance, because we fear forgetting them, fear the interruption of familiar things, and fear the colors in our memories fading away.

Death is not the end. We can reminisce about stories of times we played together and interact within those memories to express our thoughts and feeling.

Based on the terrain's location, I designed a space that can guide the flow of people. This can enhance the user experience and make full use of the environmental features.

The Two Ellipses

The building comprises three parts. The oval section aims to create a closed-loop space for enhanced interaction among people. As people navigate through the corridors, they are guided to more personal spaces that prioritize privacy and reflection. This design integrates with the local community, providing access to gardens and sea views, symbolizing the cycle of life and promoting a sense of relief through interactive activities.

I decided to divide the building into two areas. The main area will be used for reception, rest, and public activities. The other part will have five independent circular rooms for private memorial activities, ensuring they do not interfere with each other.

Main Building

Roof

This is an open rooftop platform where people can relax, entertain themselves, and share their stories.

First floor

This is the main hall of the building where people relax and prepare to enter the individual interaction rooms.

Cliff corridor

This is a corridor on a cliff where people can linger and feel the power of the sunlight and the waves.

After entering the individual room, users will participate in a Zen-like ceremony. They will use different materials to express their emotions, with immersive lighting and music guiding them to explore and understand their psyche.
